Directorates

The Assembly Commission is made up of three directorates which are supported by a Corporate Unit, all of which are accountable to the Chief Executive. This section outlines the responsibilities of each Directorate.

Assembly Business        

The Assembly Business Directorate provides specialist parliamentary support to Members to ensure the efficient and effective conduct of business. It is made up of the Committee Service; the Legislation and Chamber Service; the Members’ Research Service; and the Parliamentary Translation and Reporting Service. Assembly Business >>

Legal Services      

The Legal Service Directorate provides the following service: Advice on Orders and Measures; Advice on legislative competence; Scrutiny of Subordinate Legislation and Corporate Advice. Legal Services >>

Chief Operating Officer    

The directorate of the Chief Operating Officer has responsibility for:Human resources; Finance; Information and Communications Technology; Estates and Facilities Management; Security; Corporate Planning; Change and Programme Management and External Communications. Chief Operating Officer >>

Management Board

The Management Board comprises of the Chief Executive and Clerk of the National Assembly for Wales, the three Directors and eight heads of  the different service areas within the Assembly. The board meets on a monthly basis and is chaired by the Chief Executive. Secretariat support is provided by the Corporate Unit.

Corporate Unit

The Corporate Unit provides Secretariat services to the Assembly Commission and Executive Board; Support to the Presiding Officer; and Chief Executive; and is responsible for Records Management, Freedom of Information and Internal Communications. Corporate Unit >>
