Single Equalities Scheme Consultation - have your say!

Introduction

The National Assembly for Wales (Assembly Commission) is developing a Single Equalities Scheme and Action Plan to promote the mainstreaming of equalities throughout the organisation, as both an employer and a service provider. The scheme will set out how we will go about achieving our equalities objectives, address inequalities and tackle disadvantages.

We are developing the Scheme but we need your help. We would like to involve the people of Wales in setting our equalities objectives.

The scheme will cover the following equalities strands: age; disability; gender/gender identity; race/ethnicity; religion/belief and sexual orientation. A single scheme will bring together all of the equality strands and will support staff and service users who have differing and sometimes overlapping needs.

We need to know what you think are the Assembly’s strengths and weaknesses in the field of equalities? What are we good at? Where can we improve?

You could also help by adding the consultation document to your own website or by sharing the document with your service users. If you would like us to facilitate a meeting in order to gather feedback, please let us know and we will be happy to come and talk with you.

What do I have to do?

We would like you to read through our short consultation document and give your views on the questions we have asked about how accessible we are to the people of Wales. Further information on why we are asking people about our single equalities scheme and questions can be seen in the full consultation document below. We are asking for responses to be sent to us by 29 August 2008.
