The Measure was passed by the Assembly at Stage 4 on 10 November 2009. The Measure now awaits Royal approval in Privy Council.

Proposed Red Meat Industry (Wales) Measure

Stage 3 amendments

Following the completion of Stage 2 proceedings, Stage 3 commenced on 4 February 2010. The deadline for tabling amendments is 5 working days before the date of the meeting at which they are due to be considered.

A motion is a proposal made for the purpose of obtaining a decision from the Assembly. Except where standing orders provide otherwise, Members may propose amendments to any motion.

Oral questions

Oral Questions are tabled each week for answer in Plenary by the First Minister; and every 4 weeks for answer by Welsh Ministers, the Counsel General and the Assembly Commission.

Written Questions are tabled for a Welsh Minister or the Counsel General, on matters relating to his or her responsibilities, and the Commission on matters relating to the Commission’s responsibilities.

Standing Order 29 provides for the laying of documents before the Assembly. Laying is the formal procedure by which documents are presented to the Assembly.

Statements of opinion

Statements of Opinion can be tabled by any Assembly Member, other than a Member of the Government, on matters affecting Wales. Statements of Opinion may be supported, opposed or subject to comment.
