Policy Review of Community Regeneration

The Local Government and Housing Committee is undertaking a policy review on the role of community groups in community regeneration. The review will examine the funding and delivery of the 60 or so Assembly initiatives that are aimed at community regeneration. It will consider whether the money is being targeted effectively and delivered in the right way by the right organisations. It will recommend whether there is a case for streamlining the existing funding arrangements.

The Committee has appointed Professor Dave Adamson as its expert advisor to the Review. The Committee has received the following papers relating to the review:

The Committee agreed the draft report at the end of June and it is expected that the report will be published shortly. The Committee is now undertaking Part II of its policy review of community regeneration and will be concentrating on Capacity Building.
