Business Committee (May 1999 - April 2003)
The National Assembly's Business Committee announced on 6
th June 2000 that minutes of its future meetings would be published six
weeks after each meeting in the spirit of openness and inclusivity. The
Business Committee meets weekly on a Tuesday when the Assembly is in session. It is chaired by the Deputy Presiding Officer and attended by the Minister for Assembly Business and a Business Manager from each of the other three parties. The Committee advises
on the management of the Assembly's business and on general practice and procedure of the Assembly. The National Assembly's Standing Order 13 provides full details of the Committee's remit.The
following terms are used for the proposed route to be followed for individual items of subordinate legislation:
- Extended
procedure (subject committee and plenary debate)
- Standard procedure (resolution in plenary with debate)
- Accelerated
procedure (resolution in plenary without debate)
- Executive procedure (certain procedures disapplied by agreement of Assembly Cabinet)
