Education Lifelong Learning and Skills Committee
The Committee’s broad remit was based on the portfolio of the Assembly Minister for Education Lifelong Learning and Skills. The portfolio covered amongst other things
- schools;
- further education;
- higher education;
- skills development;
- the youth service; and
- the careers service.
The main functions of subject committees, as set out in Standing Order 9 were: policy development; scrutiny of Ministers and Assembly Sponsored Bodies and other relevant public bodies; and scrutiny of legislation. They also advised on budget allocations.
Prior to the change in Ministerial titles on 1 April 2006, the Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills Committee was named the Education and Lifelong Learning Committee.
