Health and Social Services Committee

The Committee's broad remit was based on the portfolio of the Assembly Minister for Health and Social Services. The portfolio covered:

• health and the NHS in Wales;
• social services;
• social care; and
• food safety.

The main functions of subject committees, as set out in Standing Order 9, were: policy development; scrutiny of Ministers and Assembly Sponsored Bodies; and scrutiny of legislation. They also advised on budget allocations.
