Local Government and Public Services Committee

The Committee's remit was based on the portfolio of the Assembly Minister for Finance, Local Government and Public Services and covered local government and the development of a strategic approach to the delivery of public services.

It did not cover the Minister's responsibilities in respect of the Assembly's finances or policy or financial matters falling solely within another portfolio.

The main functions of subject committees, as set out in Standing Order 9, were: policy development; scrutiny of Ministers and Assembly Sponsored Bodies; and scrutiny of legislation. They also advised on budget allocations.
