Enterprise and Learning Committee

As set out in Standing Order 12, the main function of scrutiny committees is to examine within their remit the expenditure, administration and policy of the government and associated public bodies.

The Committee’s remit covers: Economic Development and Regeneration; Social Enterprise; Transport and Lifelong Learning.

Triple first for Assembly as minister backs proposals that could ensure a Wales-wide network of safe pedestrian and cycle routes

The Committee has agreed to proceed with its proposed (Legislative Competence) (Highways and Transport) Order 2009 and its Explanatory Memorandum. The proposed LCO can be accessed here.

Learning Welsh - What do you think?

The Committee has elected a rapporteur group to investigate aspects of bilingualism in Wales. The group will focus on the teaching of Welsh as a second language; bilingual training and skills in the workplace; business interface with the public. The Members will be Gareth Jones AM; Jeff Cuthbert AM; David Melding AM; Jenny Randerson AM. They will meet informally and undertake a series of visits and consultations throughout Wales.

The next committee meeting will take place at 9:30am on Thursday 11 February 2010.

Enterprise and Learning Committee meetings are currently held on Thursday mornings. After Easter the meetings will move to Thursday afternoons
