Scutiny Inquiry : Domestic Abuse

Response from Cardigan Women's Aid Limited

I am writing to you today to bring to your attention particular problems which we have in our area relating to domestic violence. They are:

1. lack of move on accommodation for women who have come into our refuge and are then forced to stay longer than is really appropriate because they have nowhere else to go.

2. lack of core funding for our childworkers

3. lack of core funding for outreach work and our drop in centre

4. women with no recourse to finance are a huge drain on our resources - loss of housing benefit, we have to give them money to live on and it takes us more than 2 hours to drive them to Cardiff to see the specialist lawyers they need.

I sincerely hope that you will be able to address these problems quickly and effectively.
