Enterprise and Learning Committee
Rapporteur Group on Bilingualism
Four Assembly Members from the Enterprise and Learning Committee have been looking at the teaching and learning of Welsh as a Second Language in Secondary Schools as part of a longer-term inquiry into bilingualism. They have so far held informal meetings with the Welsh Language Board; visited Treorchy Comprehensive School to speak to teachers, pupils, parents and members of the local community; and met officers from ESIS (the Education and Schools Improvement Service) based in Treforest to discuss the role of Athrawon Bro (responsible for supporting Welsh teaching in primary schools).
