P-03-084 - Petition against sewage discharge into the Rhymney River

Petition received: 12 November 2007

Lead Petitioner: Councillor Ray T Davies

Number of Petitioners: 249

Petition Wording:

We, the residents of Bedwas, Trethomas & Machen understand that an application has been made to the environment agency to allow sewage discharge into the streams at Ystrad Mynach which lead into the Rhymney River. Hundreds of our children and people use river walks and the banks to fish throughout the year and in the hot summer months many young people are pulled to the river and paddle and enjoy rafting etc. We therefore petition the Welsh Assembly Government to turn down this application on the grounds that it is a danger to the health of the people of Bedwas, Trethomas & Machen areas.

Petition Status: Closed on 17 January 2008
