A Legislative Competence Order to add a matter to Field 9 (Health and Health Services) to enable the Assembly to make provision for the regulation ofsalons in relation to tanning services.

Policy Objectives of the Proposed Order

The use of tanning devices for cosmetic purposes provides potential risks to health including skin cancer, and damage to the corneas of the eyes.

The intended effect of this legislation is to prevent individuals make excessive use of tanning devices which will increase the potential risks to the health of those individuals.
