Outline of proposed Order

The proposed Order would add a Matter under Field 20 of Schedule 5 of the Government of Wales Act 2006, to provide for the establishment of a Languages Commissioner and to allow provision for Welsh as an official language in Wales.

Policy Objectives of the Proposed Order

The purpose of this Order is to allow the National Assembly for Wales to pass a Measure to establish a Language Commissioner and to give the Welsh language official status in Wales.
