Background
The
Social Justice and Regeneration Committee is carrying out a policy review into Restructuring of Constabulary following the Home Secretary’s endorsement of the conclusions and recommendations contained in the report - Closing the Gap - on police force
structures in England and Wales.
Invitations
on submissions
The Committee wishes to invite you to contribute to its consideration by providing a written submission setting out your organisation’s views on the policies and
programmes aimed at the context of any future structural arrangements for police services in Wales, including any detailed factual information that may be relevant. There is no prescribed format for submissions, but you may find it helpful to bear in mind the
following terms of reference for the review. In
addition to this written evidence, the Committee will approach a number of key organisations to appear before them in a oral sessions.
Terms
of reference
The Terms of Reference to consider for the review are: i. the relationship between the police
and the communities they serve in Wales, and matters of local identity,ii. the impact upon any change on membership
of Community Safety Partnerships and other partnership arrangements,iii. the relationship between the police
and those services which fall directly within the responsibility of the Welsh Assembly Government

Unless contributors ask for their submission to remain confidential, the Committee intends that all responses will be available for public scrutiny.

your information, the Committee has invited submissions from those on the attached list. In addition, a copy of this letter has been placed on the National Assembly’s web-site with an open invitation to submit views.Yours
