Enterprise and Learning Committee

Rapporteur group on Bilingualism At its meeting on 15 January 2009, the Enterprise and Learning Committee elected a cross party Rapporteur Group to consider different aspects of bilingualism in Wales and report its findings. The membership of the group was: Jeff Cuthbert AM; Gareth Jones AM; David Melding AM; and Jenny Randerson AM.

The Rapporteur Group on Bilingualism discussed its priorities at its first informal meeting on 5 February 2009. It decided to focus on the following three strategic areas:

• The teaching and acquisition of Welsh as a second language;

• Bilingual training and skills in the workplace; and

• Business interface with the public.
