Response to the consultation on the Proposed Playing Fields (Community Involvement in Disposal Decisions) (Wales) Measure

Association of Schools and College Leaders

1. The membership of the Association of School and College Leaders (ASCL) Cymru comprises over 90% of the leadership teams of the secondary schools of Wales.

2. There is value in ensuring, by having a Measure, that facilities such as playing fields are not disposed of without due regard to all considerations.

3. We have no comments to submit regarding the substantive text of the proposed Measure.

4. We do note that in the list of stakeholders that Local Authorities must consult, the Student Council of a school must be consulted. We would propose that the Governing Body of schools likely to be affected should also be on the list of consultees.
