Outline of proposed Order

The Assembly seeks powers under Field 11 to bring forward Assembly Measures to amend or change homelessness law in Wales by seeking a LCO over Part 7 of the Housing Act 1996. Pre-ballot Information: Explanatory Memorandum Policy Objectives of the Proposed Order As an Assembly Member, I deal with individuals who have been found to be intentionally homeless.  At present, Local Authorities have a duty to investigate intentional homelessness.  This LCO could be used to change this current duty to investigate intentional homelessness by Local Authorities to a power they need not use when responding to vulnerable homeless applicants.  In addition, this Order could enable support to be increased and also enable opportunities to be made available available to households that are found intentionally homeless to find sustainable and suitable accommodation and support them to re-enter social rented accommodation if they wish.
