P-03-056 The closure of Glyn Dulais Residential Home in Crynant in Neath Port Talbot County Borough
Petition received: 14 May 2007
Lead Petitioner: Derek Brown
Number of Petitioners: 33
Petition Wording:
To the National Assembly for Wales We, the undersigned, declare that:- On 29th March 2007 Neath Port Talbot County Bourough Council decided to close the Glyn Dulais Residential Home in Crynant. Glyn Dulais is recognised as providing exceptional care to its residents, some of whom lived there for many years. It is truly their “home”, their only home and the staff treat residents as part of their own extended families. Some residents are vulnerable, frail and without relatives. The threat of closure and loss of their home has had a traumatic effect on them. Their quality of life will further deteriorate as they are compulsorily dispersed to other homes which will make it more difficult for friends and relatives to visit. The petitioners therefore request that the National Assembly for Wales calls on the appropriate person or body to act to endeavour to ensure that the residents of the Glyn Dulais Residential Home, Crynant are able to remain in their home for as long as they so desire.Petition Status: Closed on 20 September 2007.
