In 2011, there was a referendum on the National Assembly for Wales’s legislative powers, and there was also an Assembly election. Find out more about elections and referenda here.

Referendum 2011

Following a ‘yes’ vote in the referendum, the Assembly can now pass laws on all subjects in the 20 devolved areas without first needing the agreement of the UK Parliament. Find out more about the referendum and what it means for the Assembly and the people of Wales.

Assembly election 2011

On 5 May 2011, Welsh citizens voted on who they wanted to represent them as Assembly Members. You can find out more information on the election in this section.

Vote 2011

To promote the three opportunities for the people of Wales to vote in 2011, the Assembly ran an innovative online campaign. It was designed to inform people about the voting opportunities and encourage them to have their say in how the country is run. Find out more about the Vote 2011 campaign.
