Education visits at the National Assembly for Wales
The Public Information and Education Service provides a programme of structured visits based on the Primary and Secondary schools curricula in Wales. Visits include an active debate on current topics in Siambr Hywel, a visit to the Senedd and a workshop activity designed to reinforce and build upon the educational content of the visit. The content of the visit can be adapted to a wide range of ages and abilities.
It is often possible for visiting groups to meet with their Assembly Members during the visit. If you require further information, or if you wish to make a booking, please contact the booking line on 0845 010 5500. Please have the following details at hand when making a reservation:
- school or college name;
- date of visit;
- time of visit;
- organiser's name and address;
- objectives/reasons for visit;
- visit to be conducted in English or Welsh;
- special needs;
- number in group and age range (if applicable);
- number of responsible adults (if applicable);
- desire to book lunch facility (if applicable)
Important information when arranging educational visits:
- please state when booking a visit if there are any members of your group with access needs;
- the Assembly normally sits in full Plenary Session on Tuesday afternoons and Wednesday afternoons, therefore tours to the Siambr cannot be conducted at these times;
- all bookings need to be confirmed two weeks in advance of the visit. Once your details have been received a letter of confirmation will be sent to you. at least 3 days' cancellation notice is required;
- up to 55 pupils in one group can be accommodated;
- visit organisers should ensure that the staff to pupil ratio within the visiting group complies with their Local Authority guidelines.
- There is a seated packed lunch facility for school groups in the Assembly buildings; however, this is only available to morning visits and should be requested when booking. Please note that there are no catering facilities available for educational visits. A shop is available.
