Registering allows you to use certain functions of this website such as subscribing to updates and contributing to discussion forums. This is a moderated function that ensures that only users with a valid e-mail address can use the site, and requires you to accept the terms and conditions for the site. This helps us to ensure that the site is not attacked by individuals wishing to damage the online service we provide.
There are three steps in the registration process:
To register to the site, you will need to complete a simple form. If you would like to sign or submit a petition online, please complete the ‘full registration’ section. We have produced a simple guide on how to complete the registration form.
When you have completed the form, click on ‘Register’. This will take you to Step 2.
An activation e-mail from webmaster@assemblywales.org will be sent to the address you entered on the registration form. The e-mail will include a web link to activate your account, and you must either click on this link or paste it into your web browser's address field.
Clicking on the link in the activation e-mail will take you to our activation page, and will complete the registration process.
You will need to complete the full registration form to sign or submit a petition on the site. The Assembly’s rules, or Standing Orders, note that all petitioners and those who sign petitions must provide their names and addresses. We collect and securely store all those details through the registration process, so you only have to provide us with your personal details once. And when you have registered, you can change and update those details through the ‘My Account’ section of the site. Once you have fully registered, you can log in and sign petitions with the click of a button.
Fully registered users can also use all the features listed below
Subscription
Registered users can subscribe to certain pages of the website in which they are interested. By selecting the briefcase icon at the bottom of web pages, subscribers will receive a daily e-mail notifying them of any changes that have occurred within these pages. Only one e-mail will be sent regardless of the number of pages that have been changed; the e-mail will contain links to all the subscribed pages which have changed on that day. More information on subscribing to pages can be found in the Subscription help page
Using the Discussion Forums
The National Assembly for Wales regularly holds reviews of different parts of its areas of responsibility. This is usually done through Committee business, and this site provides an opportunity for the public to contribute to these reviews through discussion forums.
Each forum will have a general introduction page detailing its purpose and remit, and a list of the open topics for discussion. Messages in closed topics can still be viewed, but no further comments can be added.
All comments posted to the discussion forums will be pre-moderated by staff at the Assembly, which means that posted comments will not appear instantly on the site. Moderation usually takes place between 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays).
Any postings that the moderator thinks break the rules as set out in our terms and conditions will not be posted. An email will be sent to the user explaining why the posting has been rejected.
All forums and topics will be bilingual, and users can post their comments either in English or Welsh to the appropriate site. Responses will not be translated, and English comments on the Welsh site and vice versa may be moved by the moderator to the correct forum. More information on discussion forums can be found on the Forum help page.
Newsletter
The National Assembly for Wales may in future produce an electronic newsletter which will be sent by e-mail to registered users. If you would like to receive this newsletter, please tick the 'Yes' box on the registration form, and choose your preferred language. If you have already registered, but did not select the option when you completed the form, you can choose to receive the newsletter by clicking on the 'amending your details' link on the 'My details' page.
Activation email problems
Some email providers are currently treating webmaster@assemblywales.org as Junk or Spam mail, and as such the activation e-mail may not reach your inbox. If you do not receive your email within 30 minutes of registering, please visit the Registration - activation emails and your account page.
