Rhodri Glyn Thomas was first elected to the Assembly in May 1999, winning by 6,980 votes. His political interests include Agriculture and the Rural Economy, Europe, and Social and Transport issues. He was re-elected in 2007 with an increased majority of over 8,000, making it the Assembly's second safest seat. When Plaid Cymru entered into a coalition government with Welsh Labour in July 2007, Rhodri was appointed as Minister for Heritage but later resigned the position in 2008. Rhodri is currently a member of the European and External Affairs Committee, the Rural Development Sub-Committee, and the Sustainability Committee.
