Born 1948, London.

Education:

Bedford College, London University

Political Experience:

Minister for Culture and Sport and the Welsh Language in the Liberal Democrat/Labour Partnership Government 2000-2003.

Acting Deputy First Minister 2001-02

Health and Social Services; Equal Opportunities and Finance Spokeswoman during the Second Assembly

Chaired Assembly Business and Standing Orders Committees during the Second Assembly

Cardiff Councillor 1983-2000

Former Leader of the Opposition on Cardiff County Council

First Chair of the Welsh Liberal Democrats 1988

Led the official opposition on the Council in Cardiff for 4 years. One of the pioneers of recycling in Cardiff. Introduced “Creative Future”, A culture strategy for Wales and “Iaith Pawb”, the first ever strategy for the Welsh Language. Piloted through the building of the WMC.
