National Assembly for Wales

Video Biography – Text Version | Jenny Randerson AM

Hello my name is Jenny Randerson and I’m the assembly member for Cardiff Central.  I’ve formerly been the leader of the opposition on Cardiff Council and a lecturer at Coleg Glan Hafren.

I was elected to the Welsh Assembly in 1999 becoming minister for Culture, Sport and Welsh Language, where I was involved in the Wales Millennium Centre and Iaith Pawb, the Welsh Language action plan.  It’s an honour for me to represent Cardiff Council; it is a wonderful constituency to represent because it is so varied.  The communities of Cathays, Cyncoed, Penylan, Pentwyn, Llanedyrn, Adamsdown, Plasnewydd and Roath are all part of my constituency.

I’m now Welsh Liberal Democrat spokesperson for Finance and Health, this gives me the opportunity to meet many health professionals, patients and volunteers who are always keen to tell me what the problems and issues are within the health service.

My work in the assembly and for Cardiff Central keeps me very busy, but when I do get some spare time, I really value time at home and visiting my two children.  The last eight years have been a wonderful experience and I’m looking forward to continuing to represent everyone in Cardiff Central here in the Assembly.
