National Assembly for Wales

Video Biography – Text Version | Jonathan Morgan AM

My name is Jonathan Morgan and I’m one of the twelve Welsh Conservative Assembly members in the Assembly.  I currently represent the constituency of Cardiff North.  I have been an Assembly member since 1999 when the Assembly came into existence and for the first two Assembly terms I represented South Wales Central region which included all of Cardiff, the Vale of Glamorgan and much of the South Wales valleys.

I currently shadow the Health and Social Services minister, which I have done since 2003, but prior to that I was the Conservative Party’s education spokesperson at the very beginning of the Assembly back in 1999, but in this third assembly I will also be chairing the Assembly’s Health, well-being and local government committee, and that job will ensure that we scrutinise the Assembly governments on a huge range of policy areas from hospitals and doctors surgeries to the way in which local authorities in Wales perform in the delivery of public services.

When I’m not in the Assembly I do enjoy going to the theatre, the cinema, eating out and I do have a passion for travel, so when I get a free weekend apart from doing all that I do enjoy visiting the coasts of Pembrokeshire.
