National Assembly for Wales

Video Biography – Text Version | Elin Jones AM

My name is Elin Jones and I'm the Assembly Member for Ceridigion in West Wales. I have been the Assembly Member for Ceridigion since 1999 and therefore I'm serving my third term in the Assembly representing the interests of the people of Ceridigion. I live in Aberystwyth and I was born in Lampeter, brought up on a farm in the village of Llanwnnen near Lampeter. My main interests in the Assembly to date have been on rural development and agriculture in particular and also on matters relating to the Welsh Language and culture. For me in Ceridigion, the major challenges facing rural constituencies such as Ceridigion is the need to ensure affordable housing for young people and also a proper rural health service which meets the needs of a rural constituency. Those are the issues I want to concentrate on in this term of the Assembly. I've always considered it to be a great honour to represent the Ceridigion constituency - the place of my birth, and a great people to be serving their interests here in the Assembly.
