Biography

Darren Millar AM was elected to the National Assembly for Wales in May 2007 and was appointed as Shadow Minister for the Environment and Planning in July 2007. He is a member of the National Assembly's Sustainability and Audit Committees and also Chairs the Cross Party Group on Faith, of which he is a founder member.

In 2000/2001, Darren became the youngest serving Mayor in Wales, a record which he understands is as yet unbroken, when he served the township of Towyn and Kinmel Bay.

Happily married with two children, Darren is very much a family man. He is a member of the Chartered Management Institute and has experience in the charity, construction, care home and telecommunications industries. Immediately prior to his election to the Assembly he was employed as a Regional Manager for an international charity.
