Darren is in his first term as Welsh Conservative Assembly Member for Clwyd West. He is an experienced campaigner across a range of issues, particularly in the areas of social justice and health; he is an active protester against local hospital downgrading and spearheaded the successful campaign to prevent the closure of Llys Onnen, the only specialist home for the blind in North Wales.
Before taking office in the Assembly, Darren worked as a Regional Manager for an international charity. He is a member of the Chartered Management Institute and, as an accountant, has also worked in the construction, care home and telecommunications industries.
Darren has had a longstanding involvement in politics and in 2000 became the youngest serving Mayor in Wales, serving the township of Towyn and Kinmel Bay. Darren continues to represent the Towyn ward on both Conwy County Borough Council and Towyn and Kinmel Bay Town Council.
Darren is happily married and lives in the Kinmel Bay area where he devotes his free time to his two young children. Darren enjoys reading, history and is an active member of the North Coast Church.
