National Assembly for Wales

Video Biography – Text Version | Sandy Mewies AM

Hello and creoso – welcome to you all. My name is Sandy Mewies and I was first elected to represent the Delyn constituency of Fflintshire at the Welsh Assembly in May 2003. Since that time I have had the great pleasure of chairing the European and External Affairs Committee and of course, I have sat with my colleagues on many of our other Committees. Before then, my career was mainly in journalism, although for a time I worked in the voluntary sector and I have been a lay-inspectoir of schools. Other things that I did were to sit on the North Wales Probation Board and I was a director of the Wales European Centre in Brussels. My family and I are very lucky to live in the constituency and we really enjoy it’s pleasant mix – there are towns like Fflint and Mold and Hollywell and beautiful scenery which ranges from mountains to the sea. If you’ve never been there, why not try a visit and see what a wonderful place it is to live and work.
