Biography

Edwina has served as Gower AM since the first Assembly election in 1999.

She was born and raised in Gowerton where she still lives with her husband, daughter and father. She attended Gowerton Girls Grammar School where she took a keen interest in literature and music and was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Wales.

Before becoming an AM she was active in the Union movement both nationally and internationally. During this time she become first female president of BIFU (now part of Unite), chaired the Wales TUC and in 1998 she received an MBE for trade union services.

Her primary interest is politics especially ensuring equality throughout society but she’s not adverse to relaxing with a good book and some classical music.
