National Assembly for Wales

Video Biography – Text Version | Joyce Watson AM

Hi.

My name’s Joyce Watson and I’m one of the Labour Assembly Members for Mid and West Wales. And I’m also the party’s spokesperson for Rural Affairs.

I live in Pembrokeshire - where I was brought up - and I now divide my time between home and working here in Cardiff Bay and in my constituency office in Llanelli.

I was elected to the Assembly in 2007 and I’m a member of a number of committees and groups here and I’ve also set up a new all party group to look at the trafficking of women and children in Wales.

Before being elected, I was the leader of the Labour group on Pembrokeshire Council and I worked in the voluntary sector as the manager of the Wales Women’s National Coalition.

I’ve also run several businesses - pubs and restaurants and shops – in communities throughout Mid and West Wales, and I work here to represent the people who live, and work, and who access services in the region.

The region itself covers a very special part of Wales and takes in some of Wales’ most beautiful spots, including each of our National Parks in Snowdonia, the Brecon Beacons and the Pembrokeshire Coast.

So if you’re watching this online and you live in the region, and you would like to get in touch, please do. I would love to hear from you.
