Biography

Rosemary Butler was elected to the Assembly in May 1999. In May 2007, she was elected to the post of Deputy Presiding Officer by a unanimous vote of the members of the National Assembly. She is a former Minister for Pre-16 Education and served as the Chair of the Culture, Welsh Language and Sport Committee in the National Assembly. Rosemary represented Wales on the European Committee of the Regions and she is the Chair of the Assembly’s Legislation Committee No.1. Her political interests include art and culture.
