Biography

Ieuan Wyn Jones was first elected to the Assembly in May 1999. In 2000 he was elected as President of Plaid Cymru with 77% of the vote. Ieuan served as Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly until the 2007 election when the One Wales Government was formed and he became the Deputy First Minister. On 19 July 2007 it was announced that Ieuan would also be Minister for Economy and Transport. His political interests are many and varied but he has a special interest in health and education.
