Art

Four artists were commissioned to provide integrated art for the Senedd:

Alexander Beleschenko, designed and created the ‘Heart of Wales’;
Martin Richman was appointed to add colour to the Senedd;
Danny Lane created the ‘Assembly Field’; and
Richard Harris, sculptor, created ‘The Meeting Place on the Plinth’.

Heart of Wales

The Heart of Wales, a dome formed of multiple layers of glass, sits at the centre of the Chamber, rising out of the oak floor.

Colour in the Senedd

The artist used the acoustic panels within the building to fulfill the project brief of introducing colour to the Senedd.

Assembly Field

Rows of glass panes form the Assembly Field, designed to reduce the speed of high winds and protect pedestrians walking up to the front steps of the building.

Meeting Place

The artist used over 40 tonnes of Ffestiniog slate slabs to create the sculpture which projects from the Senedd’s plinth.
